I had the opportunity to go to the National Elks Convention representing our Lodge #1446. While I was there we heard the national scholarship winners give a speech.

It was the top male and top female who each received a sixty thousand dollar scholarship. They were very interesting speeches. The top male was from Texas and is going into molecular biology studies and the top female was from California and is going into health and fitness. It was kind of nice too actually see what the National Elks Foundation does. 7.25 Million dollars were spent last year on scholarships, even more was spent on drug awareness programs and last but not least the Hoop Shoot program. So lets try to remember all of this when it comes up time in January for the National Elks Foundation donations from us.
